We’re growing, and we’re looking for an experienced small animal anaesthetist to join us at Granta Veterinary Specialists.

We’re an independent, vet-owned referral hospital just outside Cambridge. We like keeping things straightforward: great medicine, great people, and as little unnecessary bureaucracy as possible.

You’ll be joining two Specialist anaesthetists and an experienced team of five anaesthesia nurses, working alongside clinicians who genuinely enjoy discussing cases, sharing ideas and helping each other out. We take our patients seriously, but not ourselves.

The role

You’ll provide anaesthetic care for a varied and interesting referral caseload across multiple disciplines, from routine procedures through to some of the most complex cases we see.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working autonomously but values having experienced colleagues to bounce ideas off when needed.

You’ll:

  • Deliver high-quality anaesthetic care across a busy referral caseload.
  • Work closely with our Specialists and nursing team.
  • Support and develop our talented anaesthesia nurses.
  • Take part in the out-of-hours anaesthesia rota (up to 1 in 4).

About you

You are eligible to live and work in UK. You’ll have referral-level experience in small animal anaesthesia and be comfortable taking ownership of your cases.

Just as importantly, you’ll enjoy working as part of a team. We’re looking for someone who’s approachable, generous with their knowledge and committed to doing the right thing for patients and colleagues alike.

If collaboration matters more to you than hierarchy, and you’d rather spend your energy on clinical work than unnecessary processes, you’ll probably fit in well here.

Why Granta?

We’re proudly independent and vet-owned, which means decisions are made by clinicians, not shareholders.

You’ll work in a purpose-built referral hospital with excellent facilities, an experienced multidisciplinary team and plenty of genuinely interesting cases. We invest in people, encourage new ideas and give you the freedom to develop your role.

And yes, there is a coffee machine and fruit subscription.

Alongside that you’ll receive:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Generous CPD support.
  • Pension and private healthcare.
  • Relocation support if you’re moving to the area.

We’re based just outside Cambridge, giving you easy access to one of the UK’s most vibrant cities while still enjoying plenty of green space and excellent transport links.
