Job Title: Registered Veterinary Anaesthesia Nurse
Practice: Granta Veterinary Specialists, Linton
Contract: Full time 40 hours per week
On call: 1-6 weekends on call, 1-8 week night on calls for anaesthesia

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with experience and/or a qualification in veterinary anaesthesia to join our team. You will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality anaesthetic care to a wide range of patients within our busy veterinary practice/hospital. You will be supported alongside our anesthesia team including our veterinary anesthetists.

This role includes participation in our on-call rota, where you will be expected to work independently with appropriate support available. The on-call commitment consists of one in six weekends (Friday–Monday morning) and one in eight weeknight rotations (Monday–Thursday).

This is a permanent, full-time role.

Key Responsibilities

Preparation, monitoring, and recovery of patients undergoing general anaesthesia and sedation
Assisting veterinary surgeons during surgical and diagnostic procedures
Anaesthetic machine checks and equipment maintenance
Accurate monitoring and recording of vital parameters
Providing excellent patient care and ensuring welfare standards are maintained
Working independently to work up patients with support from existing staff
Adhering to RCVS standards and practice protocols

Essential Requirements

Registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS registered)
Experience in anaesthetic monitoring and patient recovery
Strong understanding of patient safety and welfare
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced clinical environment
Clear understanding of pharmaceuticals and pharmacology.
Experience in referral practice desirable
Post-registration qualification or certificate in anaesthesia/analgesia
