Part Time, 13 hours per week

Location: Granta Veterinary Specialists, Photon House, Station Road, Linton, Cambridgeshire
Hours: Sunday night only (13-hour shift), with opportunity for additional overtime
Salary: Commensurate with experience (discussed following application)

About the Role

Granta Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our night nursing team as a Sunday Night Ward Nurse.

This role focuses on delivering high-quality, ward-based nursing care to inpatients overnight within a specialist referral hospital. You will play an important role in patient monitoring, comfort, and continuity of care, working alongside experienced night nurses and Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), with specialist veterinary support available when required.

This position would suit a confident and organised nurse who enjoys ward nursing, works calmly overnight, and values a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing a high standard of ward-based nursing care to hospitalised patients overnight

• Monitoring inpatients closely and responding appropriately to changes in patient condition

• Administering treatments, medications, and fluid therapy as prescribed

• Maintaining accurate and timely patient records

• Supporting patient comfort, hygiene, and welfare throughout the night

• Working collaboratively with PCAs and liaising with the on-call veterinary team as required

• Ensuring clinical areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant with hospital protocols

• Completing thorough handovers to the day team at the end of the shift

About You

Essential:

• RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

• Experience in ward-based nursing care

• Confidence working overnight within a referral or hospital environment

• Strong organisational and communication skills

• A professional, team-focused approach to patient care

Desirable:

• Previous experience in a referral or ECC setting

• Experience working night shifts
